Franchise sandwich chains grew 1.8%, despite weak economy
Now is a great time to open a franchise, if you can raise the capital. This MediaPost article goes into the stats on Subway, Arbys, and Quiznos– and how they continue to innovate at the $5 and $2 price points. It’s the equivalent of folks eating more mac and cheese, but less steak in a down economy. In economics, these are called “inferior” goods. It’s why Walmart is kicking butt when the economy tanks.
Regardless of the economy, people will still need to eat hamburgers, buy caskets, and visit the hair salon. If you’re out of a job, you should find a way to serve these businesses or open a franchise business, such as a LSS (Limited Service Sandwich) chain, that works better in a down economy.
